それにしても残念なのは、Cellチップ構想がうまく行かなかったこと。経済面から見れば消費電力とコストがあまりにも家電向きでなかったのが失敗なのだろうが、やはり久夛良木さんが社長になれなかったことが敗因だろう。確かに思いっきりとんがった人ではあったが、このままコモディティ路線に走るよりも、「ソニーにだけしか提供できない何か」ととことん追求するには、彼のようなとがった人がリーダシップをとらなければならなかったのだろう。

　考えても見てほしい、誰でも作れるGoogle TVと、Cellチップが最初から組み込まれていて電源を入れるだけでPS3のゲームが遊べるテレビ、どちらが「ソニーらしいか」を。
